Subrecipient

An entity that receives a subaward from a pass-through entity to carry out part of a sponsored project. The subrecipient performs its own portion of the project work as specified in the subaward Statement of Work, maintains oversight and direction over its performance of the project, and contributes to the final products and/or reports. Note that individuals are almost never considered subrecipients, but rather may act as consultants or vendors servicing the project.
