Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS)

A nine-digit number established and assigned by Dun and Bradstreet, Inc. to uniquely identify non-Federal entities. A non-Federal entity is required to have a DUNS number in order to apply for, receive, and report on a U.S. Federal contract, grant or cooperative agreement.
