NIH: Government employee authorized to execute contractual agreements on behalf of the Government.

NHLBI: government employee authorized to execute contractual agreements and to obligate funds on behalf of the Government. Also known as Project Officer.

PVAMU: A sponsor’s designated individual who is officially responsible for the business management aspects of a particular contract. Serving as the counterpart to PVAMU’s Contracts Officer, the contracting officer is responsible for all business management matters associated with the review, negotiation, award, and administration of a contract and interprets the associated administration policies, regulations, and provisions.
