DSP: A competitive renewal is a request for additional funding after a funded project has been completed. For instance, a PI would submit a competitive renewal application if his or her 5-year grant were completed but he or she wanted another year of funding. Competitive renewal requests must be routed through the Division of Sponsored Programs in the same way as new proposals.
