NIH: A certification by an applicant, normally included with the application or State plan, indicating that the entity is in compliance with, or that it will abide by, a particular requirement if awarded a Federal grant.

DSP: Each grant application to a federal sponsor requires that a variety of assurances and certifications be verified by the signature of the Institutional Official signing for the University. Grant applications may include one or more forms that address these requirements or include a statement that the signature of the Institutional Official automatically certifies to the federal agency that the University is in compliance. Utah: Statements concerning institution or organization compliance with Civil Rights, Title IX, Human Subjects, etc.

PVAMU: A formal written, binding commitment that is submitted to a federal agency in which an institution promises to comply with applicable regulations governing research with human subjects and use of animals and stipulates the procedures through which compliance will be achieved.
