DSP: principal investigator may request an advance master file key number when it is known that the award for their project will be made effective on a certain date. An advance master file key number enables PI’s to begin spending funds from their grant or contract before it is formally awarded. The PI’s department must agree to accept full responsibility for these expenditures if the project is not eventually funded. A request for an advance master file key number must be made using the Request for Advance MFK Account Submission form in UIRIS.
